UMASS: Former Purdue defensive backs coach Greg Burns is close to joining Charley Molnar's staff in the same capacity, according to MaroonMusket.com writer Bob McGovern.  In the event, Ted Daisher would coach the linebackers.

Toronto Argonauts: Ted Goveia, who has served as the director of Canadian scouting for Toronto, has been promoted to director of player personnel.

UTEP: Look for UTEP head coach Sean Kugler to offer the defensive coordinator job to Sam Houston State defensive coordinator / linebackers coach Scott Stoker.  A source tells me the deal should be completed soon.

Georgia: According to Sports Business Journal, former Georgia athletic director Damon Evans has accepted a job heading up a new division with IMG College to assist schools with fundraising.

Philadelphia Eagles: Former Eagles offensive linemen Tra Thomas has been hired as a minority coaching intern.

Savannah StateI haved learned that Savannah State head coach Steve Davenport and the entire staff have been let go.

UMass: According to Big Ten Network's Tom Dienhart, Georgia State offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach John Bond has accepted the same position at UMass.

Florida: UTEP defensive coordinator Jeff Choate has accepted the outside linebackers / special teams coordinator job at Florida. Choate coached with current Florida offensive coordinator Brent Pease while the two were at Boise State.

Texas: According to Orangebloods.com, former North Texas player Riley Dodge has accepted an offensive quality control job on Mack Brown's staff at Texas. Dodge served as a graduate assistant at Texas A&M last season.

Illinois: Wheaton Warrenville South HS (IL) co-defensive coordinator / linebackers coach / special teams coordinator Matt Sinclair has been named assistant director of player personnel and relations at Illinois.

Capital University (OH): Sources tell me that Shorter University (GA) assistant Calvin Gibson has accepted the wide receivers job at Capital University.

ULM: Athletic director Bobby Staub informed The News Star that he has resigned, effective July 1. Staub said that university president Dr. Nick Bruno decided it was time to go in a new direction.

Alabama: Kirby Smart has received a pay raise to $1.15 million. Smart will earn $1.35 million during the final two years of his three-year contract. Nick Saban did not receive a raise nor extension, but will earn $200,000 for making the coming four-team playoff, $300,000 for making the playoff championship or $400,000 for winning it. He can only earn one of those payments. Offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier's salary was increased from $590,000 to $680,000, and his contract was extended through 2016. Defensive line coach Chris Rumph ($360,000) and tight ends coach / special teams coordinator Bobby Williams ($400,000) each received $50,000 raises. Outside linebackers coach Lance Thompson ($400,000) and running backs coach Burton Burns ($315,000) each received $25,000 raises. As for new coaches, offensive line coach Mario Cristobal will earn $475,000, while defensive back coach Greg Brown and wide receivers coach Billy Napier will each make $300,000. Napier will make $325,000 in 2014. That's a total of $4.38 million for assistant coaches. Director of player personnel Kevin Steele will also make $200,000 for two years, and athletic director Bill Battle will earn $620,000 annually on a four-year contract. Here is our story.

Oklahoma State: The Tulsa World reports that new offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich will earn a salary of $400,000.

Ole Miss: As mentioned as a strong possibility last week, Hinds Community College wide receivers coach Lee Wilbanks has joined the Ole Miss staff.  Wilbanks will serve an integral part in the recruiting operations under Hugh Freeze.

Kennesaw State: According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Central HS (GA) head coach Grant Chesnut has accepted the offensive coordinator / offensive line job.  In addition, Georgia Tech offensive grad assistant Shane Bowen will also join the staff.

Sunday Night Football: If you're waiting all day for Faith Hill, you're going to be waiting a long time.  The singer will not return to the Football Night in America on NBC next fall.  Pre-game won't be the same.

Alabama: The Alabama board of trustees compensation committee will meet today. Pay raises on are the agenda for Alabama coaches.

Kennesaw State: Georgia Tech director of player personnel Liam Klein has accepted a position on Brian Bohannon's staff at Kennesaw State.

Alcorn State: Former Langston University head coach Mickey Joseph has joined the Alcorn State staff as wide receivers coach.

Mike Dubose: Former Alabama head coach Mike Dubose has accepted the head coaching job at Luvern High School in Alabama.  Dubose most recently coached the defensive line at Memphis under Larry Porter.
